The Arks

Noah gathered his family along with a sampling of all creation to himself to preserve them from the wrath of God and the predestined destruction of the world. He built an ark that would contain that part of creation that had been previously chosen to survive. How was this choice made? It was based on creation's willingness to come to him, and the size of the ark was determined by this number.
Genesis 6:19-20
19 And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
20 Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
They came on their own will and only those who chose to come to Noah for protection were preserved. The chosen, along with Noah, were cared for, nourished and protected from destruction, and the ark or body of the ship that housed them stood firm and intact, because it was built exactly as God had commanded.
Genesis 6:14-16
14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
Noah built the ark perfectly to those specifications. The ark you see would not be exempt from the storm, but it was built to withstand it! This account was recorded and preserved for us as a foreshadow of the end of this age we are living in now. It is an example of how once again a remnant of humanity and creation will be able to survive God's wrath.
Let me explain. On a much larger scale, Christ like Noah is gathering His family, along with all creation, to preserve them from the predestined judgment and destruction that is again coming to this world. Exactly like the first time, man, as well as creation, is being given the opportunity to come to the greater Noah (Christ) and enter the ark, or the body of Christ. Here they will find security from the wrath that is coming again to destroy man's wickedness, especially the evil allowed in the religious world. Today also, this body or ark is being specifically built according to God's commandments. However this time, the ark or body is made of humans! These humans must meet the specifications set forth in scripture to be accepted, and then accept responsibility when assigned a place in the body by God to perform and function smoothly with other members.
I Corinthians 12:18-20
18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.
19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.
As people are gathered, some will not mold and shape into the ark or body. These will be discarded, as their defects would weaken the whole ark. It would allow the enemy to come in like a flood and risk the lives sheltered within. Only the righteous will be a part of this ship, Who is not acceptable to be a part? A good example of the kind of people that will be refused is found in I Corinthians 6:15-20 and I Corinthians 5:9-11.
I Corinthians 6:15-20
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh."
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. (You can't be a part of both!)
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
20 For you were bought at a price; (the cross) therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
So the sexually immoral are rejects. Here is another fact. We are to be separate from this kind of person as well as all those listed in verse eleven. The Word warns us:
I Corinthians 5:9-11
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people.
10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. (This is for the church.)
11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner - not even to eat with such a person.
Besides, the sexually immoral not only sin outside or against the whole body making everyone that the body is composed of guilty, but the scripture we just read in I Corinthians 15:18 states they sin against their own body. This means they cannot be glorified or a part of I Corinthians 15:54.
I Corinthians 15:54
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
These are corrupt and able to be corrupted. They just are not the caliber or material the body is to be built of as they allow cracks where death can come in to those they are to be protecting.
Also, as with the original ark, this body or spiritual ark has enough spiritual food and can provide all that is needed for its occupants to be secure and preserved. Milk for the babies and solid food for the mature is available. We see this spiritual food mentioned in Hebrews 5:12-14.
Hebrews 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Jesus who is at the helm of this ship is also called the bread of life.
John 6:48
48 I am the bread of life.
So being obedient to the Word (Jesus is the Word) will keep God's family, the church, full, nourished and safe until the storms of wrath are over, and the new day or age, with all its glorious promises, dawns. The body or ark of Christ that houses and protects them will, like Noah's ark, also be found strong and in one piece in that day. It's safe there. Nothing can destroy it. It too is constructed according to the will and predestined plan of God. Will you bother to be there? We are being encouraged to assemble ourselves together, all the more so, as the end days draw near.
Hebrews 10:22-25
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Careful that you are not off doing your own thing as were the people in Noah's day. Remember, only those that choose to come to the Ark or the body will be preserved in the end, just as in the days of Noah.
Let us close with Matthew 24:36-39
36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (He comes as a thief in the night. In fact, dare tell anybody He's already here. It is Christ in us the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27)
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
