Business Outreach

Truth, void of false doctrine, must be taught in all areas of life. This includes the business arena. The world has its systems and ethics, and the Kingdom of God has spiritual laws that govern business within God's economy. How very different they are! For instance, God who is the same, yesterday, today and forever warned His people many years ago:

Leviticus 19:13

13 You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not remain with you all night until morning.

Deuteronomy 24:15

15 "Each day you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; lest he cry out against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you.

Lest we think fair scale ended with Judaism, let us investigate James 5:4

James 5:4

4 Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

In verse 5 the Lord corrects those that refuse to share.

James 5:5

5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

The world, for the most part, expects her people to be sly, clever and sharp in their dealings with each other. Dog eat dog is a phrase well known in those circles. In fact it is admired when people build their own empires. Very few businesses give any real thought to the advancement and establishment of God's Kingdom. The compromising church allows the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life to exist as those involved are the very ones that contribute huge tithes and offerings to soothe their conscience. Babylon, the larger part of the church world, turns her back on sin and deaf ears to God's spiritual law. As the true church ventures into the business arena however, she brings Godly principles and policies based on scriptural direction. We should feel safe doing business with her as she answers to God for her actions and must be obedient to spiritual law. Above all she will be well versed in the Word to meet the spiritual needs of those she encounters in daily business life. She is to be a tool the Master can use to enhance and build His Kingdom.
