Through the wilderness of life there is a highway
That the people of the Lord are placed upon.
It's rather rough as they begin their journey,
An easy walk, but not too hard for us to travel on.
But as the Father shapes us, our life is turned around:
The walk becomes much harder, as He tears our strongholds down.
Sin and compromise must go, as we continue on
Walking in the light of truth and following His song.
As the highway narrows down we see His footsteps.
Can we stay on the path and follow Him?
It almost looks like no one else has walked there!
The road is hard but it's not so bad as the struggle felt within.
When there's just a whisper of the wind with the faint hint of His song:
And there's only room for one to walk, will you still carry on?
Can you die to your own will, so that He can lead you through?
One set of tracks, now they are yours, but it's Him walking through you.
